Grangemouth pervert jailed for minimum of four years
A Grangemouth man has been jailed for raping a 14-month-old girl and posting the images on the internet.
Judge Lord Bonomy imposed a lifelong restriction order on David Morrison, 45 at the High Court in Edinburgh.
This means Morrison will be detained until he no longer poses a threat to the public and it will be a minimum of four years before he can apply or be assessed for release.
Detective Chief Inspector Barry Blair, of the Public Protection Unit, which led Operation Malta – the investigation surrounding Morrison, described the monster as “undoubtedly one of the most dangerous sexual predators we have ever investigated.”
He said: “The crimes he has committed are beyond normal human comprehension.
“This has been reflected by the order of lifelong restriction which will ensure he remains in prison for a significant period of time.
“He is clearly an extremely dangerous man and he will now remain in prison until such times as the risk he possesses to children and the wider community has diminished.
“Children through the Forth Valley area and beyond are considerably safer now he has been jailed."
Detective Sergeant Douglas Howie, of the Specialist Investigations Unit, said: “This investigation is still on-going throughout Europe and the rest of the world work is still ongoing to identify those who are taking part in this kind of offending and we know numerous people have been prosecuted throughout the world.”
Fifteen people have been prosecuted across the UK and 75 have been prosecuted worldwide across 24 countries including America, Sweden, Canada, France and Norway.
