Grangemouth homeowners to receive free insulation in £800k scheme
Private homes in Grangemouth are to receive free insulation as part of an £800,000 council scheme.
Up to 16,000 private properties across Grangemouth, Denny and Bonnybridge are eligible to receive free loft and/or cavity wall insulation from Falkirk Council following a grant from the Scottish Government.
The scheme is available to Grangemouth homeowners in a suitable private property that doesn’t currently have adequate standards of insulation.
It is not means tested and is available on a first-come-first-served basis.
The savings could be big – up to £155 on energy bills as well as costs of fitting loft insulation of between £100-£350 and cavity wall insulation costing between £150 to £350, depending on the property size.
Councillor Jim Blackwood, Convener of Housing and Social Care, said: “This is a completely free offer to 16,000 householders that can offer benefits for many years to come.
“The process is straightforward, installation only takes a maximum of a few hours and the work is to a high standard from an approved contractor.
“There’s also an opportunity to receive a free home energy check from trained advisors who can suggest ways for you to improve your energy efficiency and help save you money.
“We already have our own ongoing scheme with council tenants but this offer allows private householders to benefit as well.”
