Welcome to the Roaring Forties

Here's a bit of Grangemouth's industrial history - the first sample of crude oil brought into BP from the Forties Field on the North Sea.

Back in 1975 this was big news - it seemed that Scotland's energy future was assured. BP's Bob McLean is pictured here proudly showing off that first precious flask of the black stuff.
